In this regard, Doctor Aldo Cortés González, deputy director of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, elaborates on the epidemiological situation of the province regarding this disease.
“During this year we have reported eight cases to date, much less than in previous years. Today these cases are concentrated in the municipalities of Jobabo, Menéndez and Las Tunas. In the first week of this calendar, three cases were reported and in the last weeks two.
“Today there is concern that most of the cases are contacts from outside the home, one within the home and the other without a source of infection, the latter a 14-week pregnant woman, so it must be clear that the virus is circulating,” said the deputy director. Epidemiology in the territory.
How does the virological analysis behave in the territory?
“We infer that the same strain is circulating from the low performance, to date we have not been notified that there are some of the sub-variants of Omicron circulating in China and other countries.
“We maintain active surveillance of respiratory outbreaks, severe cases, moderate symptoms or family or school respiratory outbreaks, we study them and send them to the IPK for virological studies to identify other viruses.”
