Las Tunas.- More than 14,500 children over one month and under three years of age received the first dose of the Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign in the province of Las Tunas.
In the sixty-second Antipolio Campaign, an immunization of more than 95 percent was achieved by the different age groups in the eight municipalities, stated the representative of the Vaccination Program, of the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology.
The second stage will take place from April 24 to 29, which will coincide with Vaccination Week in the Americas, in which protection will also be reactivated for some 6,342 nine-year-old infants, as part of the Vaccination schedule against Polymyelitis.
The elimination of this disease in Cuba is considered the most relevant result of Cuban Public Health in the field of prevention due to its social repercussions.
