Las Tunas.- The low availability of irrigation systems, machinery for the preparation of land, fuels and other important material resources will mark the year 2022 in the province of Las Tunas, to which is added the impact of the United States blockade against Cuba .
Among the shortcomings, veterinary drugs, specialized feed and chemical pesticides and fertilizers stand out, which directly affects the development of both tobacco, timber trees and various crops as well as different types of livestock.
Continuing to promote science and technology is the main challenge for specialists, farmers and state producers, in the interests of genetic improvement of seeds, the incorporation of nutrients into the soil and the consolidation of clones of different lines that best adapt to the climatic characteristics of the territory.
In livestock, the goals are in the improvement of artificial insemination, the better management of the herds to avoid deaths, the sowing of animal feed and the search for alternatives to alleviate the drought that is looming for the next few months.
During 2021, the eight municipalities of Las Tunas failed to comply with most of their production plans for milk, pork, eggs, grains, charcoal and others, which directly affected the family and the province’s economy. Therefore, this year will be decisive to reverse those results.
The Covid-19 disease and the economic crisis that is associated with it is far from disappearing and to this is added a decrease in dammed water and underground sources, so the agricultural sector will appeal to solutions to guarantee the food that the population demands.
