Specialized care in Las Tunas returns to normal

Las Tunas.-The prevention, diagnosis, treatment of diseases and any other condition that puts the evolution, during pregnancy, of the mother or the fetus at risk, will have a considerable improvement in the province of Las Tunas when the treatment room is reopened at the Ernesto Guevara de La Serna General Teaching Hospital.

After receiving a capital repair at a cost of more than five million pesos, this room is recovering after twelve years, said Marianela Zapata Romero, director of the largest care center in the province.

Four nurses on each shift, three perinatology specialists, two residents and a general practitioner will have the mission of caring for the patients who arrive there, which will undoubtedly allow better care and follow-up.

As part of the celebrations in the province for the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, the first part of the Pathological Anatomy department was inaugurated in this famous hospital, which will have a modern laboratory.

“What is sought with this department, which aspires to become a reference for the eastern region of the country, is to be able to diagnose the biopsies that are sent to the country’s capital today,” said Dr. Ernesto Hernández Santiesteban, in front of the department.

Dr. Zapata Romero, general director of “Guevara”, recognized the Provincial Construction Company, entities such as Acinox-Las Tunas and the state’s effort to achieve, in the midst of such a difficult financial and economic situation, being able to count on these modern medical services.
