Las Tunas.-The use of cane oil as a base for biolubricants and the production of a soap to intensify the processes of absorption and clarification of cane juices is one of the most significant results of scientific activity in Las Tunas.

With it, its author, the doctor in Technical Sciences José Marcos Gil Ortiz, promotes a solid contribution to the sugar industry, supported by the territorial delegation of the Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Environment and the University of Las Tunas.

The cachaza wax oil soap was applied to clarify the juices in the last harvest at the Majibacoa, Colombia and Antonio Guiteras sugar mill and with it and the other half of the flocculant, savings were achieved.

Its value more than in money means that if the country is deprived of obtaining said flocculant abroad, essential in the production process of the plants, it would have something to replace it on hand.

He means that with the use of a waste from the industrial process, a product that Cuba imports for its sugar industry is partially replaced.

The expert Gil Ortíz also develops a project related to the effectiveness of tandem grinding of sugar cane by modifying the hydraulic pressures.

The research proves that any pressure applied in the mill above that of a neutral plane does not fulfill any function and generates tensions that cause the shafts to break, something quite common, in addition to a waste of energy, which can be avoided just with the regulation of a small valve.
